How did this happen? All of the sudden, this week I've become VERY lucky.
I'm never extraordinarily lucky, and over the years I've come to accept that. Sure, it bothered me a little when as a kid I never came home from the carnival with that giant pink bear, or never looked under the cap to find a cheery, "Congratulations!", but looking back I can't complain. I realize that despite never having unusually great luck, I've also been spared the horrible luck too...and I'm perfectly happy floating in between.
Then this week the luck started pouring in. On Monday I spied my name on Iris' blog. I had won one of her beautiful and creative ATCs...just for posting a comment, which I would have done anyway, (one of her hens just surprised her with a nest full of the sweetest little chicks...you have to check them out!), so it felt like I won it out of the blue...what fun!
Yes, can you believe the luck? I was out getting so much accomplished when I realized that I was a bit hungry. So, I popped into a Chipotle, and was torn...salad or soft tacos? A salad would allow me to eat with a fork, and generally after popping in and out of stores, and hopping on and off the bus all day the last thing I want to do is eat with the part of my body that has come into contact with so many surfaces that, well, I'm not going to go there right now...even freshly washed, my hands on a hot, sticky Chicago day like this seem, ummm, ewww. So, a salad it would be...until I got to the counter. Honestly, I was quite shocked hearing the words come out of my mouth: "Chicken Soft Taco", but not a second later the girls behind the counted happily chirped, "Your tacos will be free today!". I won! There was some sort of sticker on the wrapper that they had pulled out entitling me to free tacos! Yea! It was SO worth figuring out how to keep my food safe while I hopped off to get my hands washed AFTER placing my order.
